Monson’s medal haul at Kent Championships

RTW Monson have been named best team in Kent at the 2024 County Swimming Championships. Held over four weekends, starting at K2 in Crawley back in January and finishing at the London Aquatic Centre in March, their team of 71 swimmers who had qualified for this year’s championships amassed 1784 points across all events, finishing 498 points ahead of the next best team.

The young swimmers claimed 79 gold medals, 56 silvers and 46 bronze, as well as racking up many points for top ten finishes. They also took home 46 out of the 68 trophies awarded for the fastest times, consisting of 24 out of the 34 Junior trophies and 22 out of 34 Open trophies. This was a huge achievement for the athletes who came from five of Monson’s squads, showing the club’s strength, depth and current talent crop. This year they were joined by first time Kent County qualifiers Mae Davies, Valerie Wong, Evie Hamer, Aimee Gridley, Safia Chaturvedi, Gabriel Marsh, Orlando Clary, Charles Barrow, Rose Irwin, Joe Broyden Prior & Elizabeth Frowde.

Head coach, Adam Naylor said, “This has been the club’s best county championships for decades, and to see so many different finalists and medalists was fantastic. Our coaching team are continually raising the standards of swimming in Royal Tunbridge Wells and all of the swimmers, coaches and committee must be congratulated in what they have achieved together.”

A total of 19 Kent County Champions from RTW Monson Swimming Club this year, finishing in first place in their age group were: Hayden Annan, Max El-Mokadem, Bella Jones, Maddie Hind, Jess Gable, Aran Bissett, Denys Mialkovskyi, Ilana Nightingale-Ellis, Amalie Smith, Hannah Murphy, Chengze Duan and Aubry Armada Bennett, Lilia Fornasier, Olivia Norley, Callie Ann Warrington , Julia Elvidge, Lowri Williams, Jasper Yau & Jax Marshall. A huge well done to those swimmers on becoming Kent County Champions!

Hayden Annan, , Maddie Hind, Jess Gable, Aran Bissett, Denys Mialkovskyi, Amalie Smith, Hannah Murphy & Chengze Duan all took home Open County Championship trophies with Maddie, Aran, Amalie and Max El-Mokadem claiming the Junior (16years & under) County Championship trophies.
